Abstract

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stands as an eternal exemplar for human society, and adherence to his political conduct (sīra) is considered imperative for Islamic society. The purpose of this study is to examine the extent of Imam Khomeini’s (RA) commitment to the Prophet’s political and governance paradigms. Drawing upon the Prophet’s teachings, Imam Khomeini (RA) endeavored to revive Islam’s political and social system in a novel framework according to the conditions of his time, and establish a profound connection between Prophetic tradition and contemporary requirements. Using a descriptive‑analytical method, this study seeks to clarify Imam Khomeini’s (RA) adherence to the Prophet’s political conduct. Findings indicate Imam Khomeini’s (RA) genuine practical commitment to the Prophet’s political conducts. Prior to the establishment of the Islamic government, he organized social forces for political struggle against tyranny, similar to the Prophet’s (PBUH) actions. He actively emulated the Prophet’s political conduct in practice following the government formation as well. In leadership, Imam (RA) believed in popular consent in political system, comprehensive independence of the country, the rule of justice and law, resistance against oppressors and instigators and remained practically committed to the Prophet’s conducts.
